FlipHTML5 is the hosted tool closest to what Flippique does, because it will let you download a flipbook and host it yourself. It is worth being precise about what that costs and what it is capped at, rather than pretending the feature does not exist.

What FlipHTML5 does better

  • Link detection from your PDF on Pro, plus trackable links — Flippique preserves PDF links on paid plans but cannot track clicks.
  • Video, audio, interactive triggers and 1,400+ templates at the upper tiers.
  • Analytics, SEO options and a custom domain. Flippique has none of these.
  • A big free tier for volume — five flipbooks a day, 500-page uploads.

The download cap is the thing to check

Downloading a flipbook as a file is a paid feature with a monthly allowance, not an unlimited one: the free plan has no downloads, Pro (€139 a year) allows five publication downloads a month, and unlimited downloads start at Platinum (€279 a year). Their free plan also shows ads and the FlipHTML5 logo on your published books until you reach Pro.

With Flippique the file is the product. There is no allowance to run down, because there is no server handing it to you.

Where Flippique is the weaker tool

Said plainly, because finding out after you have paid is how people end up asking for refunds:

  • No analytics, no lead forms, no custom domain. A file on someone's computer cannot report back, which is the point — but if you need to know who read what, a hosted tool genuinely serves you better.
  • The text is not searchable. Pages render as images, so nobody can select text or search inside the book.
  • Links from your PDF carry over on paid plans only. The free plan flattens them.
  • No hosted link. You get a file. Putting it online is your job — your own site, a USB stick, an email attachment.
