Getting started

What is Flippique?

Flippique is a desktop app for Windows and Mac that turns images or a PDF into an interactive, page-turning flipbook. The result is one self-contained HTML file that opens in any modern browser, even offline. There's no account, no sign-up, and nothing is uploaded: your pages stay on your computer. Flippique adds the page turn — it isn't a design or layout editor, so your pages look exactly as you made them in InDesign, Canva, Word or your camera. Download it, open it, drop your files in.

What files can I put into it?

PNG and JPG images, a whole folder of images, or a PDF. A folder import sorts the images into page order, and every page of a PDF becomes a page of the book. There's no Word, PowerPoint, InDesign or Canva import — export to PDF first and bring that in, which works well and keeps your layout exactly as designed. You can add more pages at any point, drag pages into a new order, pick any page as the cover, and delete pages you don't want.

How do I make my first flipbook?

Three steps. Import: drag in your images, a folder or a PDF. Arrange: use the page grid to drag pages into order, choose a cover, and delete anything you don't need — page numbers update as you go. Create: open the instant preview to try the real page turns, then save one .html file wherever you like. That file is your flipbook. Double-click it to open it in a browser, put it on your website, or copy it to a USB stick.

Do I need an internet connection?

No. The app works fully offline, and so does the flipbook it makes. The only time Flippique goes online is to check a licence key — activating it, re-checking it roughly weekly, or releasing an activation when you deactivate a computer. The exported book makes no network requests at all, which is why it still works from a USB stick or a classroom with no Wi-Fi. The free plan doesn't need an internet connection at any point.

Plans and pricing

What are the limits of the free plan?

The free plan is permanent and needs no account. Its limits are: 3 books a month, up to 24 pages a book, a small Flippique watermark at the foot of every page, and "Powered by Flippique" on the loading screen. Two features are on the paid plans only: links from your PDF staying clickable, and your own logo and colours on the loading screen. Everything else is there, so you can build a real brochure or a zine issue and see exactly what you'd be buying. The monthly allowance resets on the 1st. Books you make on the free plan are yours to keep and share, watermark included.

What do the paid plans cost, and what do I get?

There are three ways to pay, all plus VAT or sales tax for your country: two subscriptions and a one-off licence. Solo is €49 a year or €6 a month: 20 books a month, up to 100 pages a book, on one computer. Pro is €99 a year or €12 a month: unlimited books, any number of pages, on up to 3 computers. Both remove the watermark, make the "Powered by Flippique" line optional, and include every update while you're subscribed. Both renew until you cancel, and you can ask for a refund within 14 days of a payment. There is also Lifetime at €199, paid once: the same as Pro, including every future update, with no renewal. Refunds apply to all three within 14 days of payment.

Is it a one-off purchase?

It can be. Solo and Pro are subscriptions, billed yearly or monthly, renewing until you cancel. Lifetime is a single payment of €199 plus VAT: everything Pro has, every future update included, on three computers, with nothing to renew. Activate it once and it never checks in again, so it keeps working offline and keeps working even if Flippique stops being sold. What isn't a subscription is your work: each flipbook you save is an ordinary file on your computer. It doesn't live on our servers and doesn't stop working if you stop paying. If your subscription ends, the app goes back to the free plan for making new books, but the books you've already saved stay exactly as they are.

What happens when I run out of books for the month?

Saving is paused until the 1st, when your allowance resets — nothing else changes, and the app keeps working: you can still import, arrange and preview books, and everything you've already saved is untouched. The count is per calendar month and per computer. If you're hitting the limit regularly, that's the moment to move up a plan: Solo allows 20 books a month and Pro has no limit.

Can I use flipbooks I make for client and commercial work?

Yes. You own the images and PDFs you import and the flipbooks you make from them, and you can share, sell or publish them however you like, including for paid client projects. We claim no rights over your material, and because the app runs entirely on your computer, we never receive it. You're responsible for having the rights to whatever you put in a book. With Pro there's no Flippique branding in the book unless you choose to leave the credit switched on.

Buying and payment

Who is Creem, and why does my receipt come from them?

Creem is our merchant of record and reseller — the legal seller of Flippique Pro. They run the checkout, take the payment, charge and account for VAT or sales tax, and send you your receipt, your invoices and your licence key. That's why the charge and the email come from Creem rather than from Nebula Digital. Creem's buyer terms apply to your purchase alongside ours, and you manage the subscription itself in Creem's customer portal. For invoice or VAT questions, Creem is the right place to ask.

How do I pay, and is VAT added?

You pay at Creem's checkout, reached from the pricing section at flippique.com. Prices on the site are in euros and exclude tax: VAT or sales tax is worked out from your country and added at checkout, so you see the full total before you confirm. A business with a valid EU VAT number can enter it at checkout, which applies the reverse charge where it's due. We never see your full card details; Creem handles the payment. Invoices are available any time at creem.io/my-orders/login.

Will the price change?

Your subscription renews at the price shown at checkout. If we ever change the price, we'll email you before it applies to your next renewal, so you have time to decide and cancel first if you'd rather not continue. We don't run countdown timers or "price rising soon" pressure. The free plan has no time limit, so there's no rush to buy before you've tested Flippique on a real piece of work.

Licensing and activation

How do I activate my licence key?

Your key arrives by email from Creem after you subscribe. In Flippique, open About (top of the window) → License, paste the key into the box and choose Activate. That's it — the page cap and watermark are gone immediately, and the About screen then shows your edition and which key is in use. You need to be online just for that moment. If the key isn't accepted, check it against your purchase email for a missing character before trying again.

How many computers can I use it on?

One computer on Solo, up to three on Pro. Each activation uses one of them, and a business can let its own staff use its licence within the same limit. If you run out, free one up on a computer you no longer use with About → License → Deactivate on this computer, then activate the new one. The app says plainly when the limit is reached rather than failing quietly. Please don't share your key outside your own household or business — it's the one thing we ask.

How do I move my licence to a new computer?

Deactivate first, then activate. On the old computer, open About → License → Deactivate on this computer; that releases the activation back to your subscription. On the new computer, install Flippique, open About → License, paste the same key and choose Activate. If the old computer is broken, sold or wiped and you can't deactivate it, email hello@nebula-digital.com with your purchase email address and we'll free the activation for you. Your saved flipbooks are just files — copy them over as normal.

I've lost my licence key. How do I get it back?

Search your email for the receipt from Creem - the key is in the purchase email. The Creem customer portal doesn't show licence keys, so if the email is gone, write to hello@nebula-digital.com from the address you used to buy (or tell us which one it was) and we'll look up your order and send the key back to you. We reply within 3 business days. There's no account to recover and no password to reset.

Does the app need to be online to keep working?

Only now and then. Flippique re-checks your licence about once a week when you're online, and it keeps working normally for up to 30 days after the last successful check. So a fortnight offline, a trip, or a flaky connection changes nothing. Network trouble on our side never counts against your key. If more than 30 days pass with no successful check, the app says a licence check is needed and makes free books until it can check — connect to the internet and choose Check now in About → License.

What information does the licence check send?

Just two things: your licence key, and a label for the computer — its name and operating system, for example "Studio-PC (Windows)" — so you can tell your activations apart. The reply says whether the key is active and gives an ID for that activation, which is saved on your computer. Weekly re-checks and deactivations send the key and that activation ID. Nothing about your files, your pages or your flipbooks is ever sent. Our licence service passes these checks on to Creem and doesn't store your key or computer label.

Cancelling, refunds and what happens next

How do I cancel?

In the Creem customer portal at creem.io/my-orders/login. Sign in with the email address you bought with, find your Flippique Pro subscription and cancel it there. You can also get to the same place from inside the app: About → License → Manage subscription. Cancelling stops future renewals — no email to us is needed and nobody will try to talk you out of it. The same portal is where you change your payment method or download invoices.

When does my access actually stop after I cancel?

Cancelling stops the next renewal, and you keep the full version until the end of the period you have already paid for - the end of your current month or year. After that the app goes back to the free plan for making new books. A refund is different: when a payment is refunded, access ends straight away. Either way, flipbooks you have already saved are unaffected.

What happens to the flipbooks I've already made?

Nothing. They're ordinary files on your computer — not links on our platform — so they keep working exactly as they are, wherever you've saved, emailed, hosted or handed them out. They don't expire, phone home or stop opening when a subscription ends, and any already unbranded book stays unbranded. Ending a subscription only affects making new full-size books: the app returns to the free plan, so new books get the free plan's limits again — 3 books a month, up to 24 pages, with the watermark.

Can I get a refund?

Yes — within 14 days of a payment. Email hello@nebula-digital.com, or simply reply to your Creem receipt, and say which payment you'd like refunded. We don't make you justify it. When the refund is issued, the licence key is deactivated and the app goes back to the free plan; books you've already saved are files and aren't affected. This doesn't take away any rights you have under consumer law where you live. We reply within 3 business days.

Can I switch from monthly to yearly (or back)?

Yes, and the yearly plan works out at about €8.25 a month. Creem's customer portal doesn't offer a plan change, so email hello@nebula-digital.com and we'll arrange it with you. Tell us which plan you'd like and the email address you bought with, and we'll make sure you aren't double-charged or left without a working key in between.

Platforms (Windows, macOS, phones)

Which versions of Windows does it run on?

Windows 10 and Windows 11, 64-bit, and macOS 11 or later on both Apple silicon and Intel Macs. You download the installer for your system from flippique.com and run it — no account, no sign-up. The current version is 0.2.0. There's no separate "portable" build, no web app and no server component; it's an ordinary desktop app that runs entirely on your machine. Updates are included while you're subscribed, and the trial keeps working with no time limit whether you buy or not.

Is there a Mac version?

Yes. Flippique runs on macOS 11 (Big Sur) and later, as one universal app that runs natively on both Apple silicon and Intel Macs. Download the .dmg from flippique.com, drag Flippique into your Applications folder, and open it. The first time, macOS will block it because the app isn't signed by Apple yet: open System Settings, go to Privacy & Security, scroll down, click Open Anyway and confirm with Open. You only do that once. Everything works the same as on Windows, and your licence key works on either: a key activates on your computers whichever system they run.

Can I make flipbooks on my phone or tablet?

No — Flippique is a desktop app for Windows and Mac, and there's no iOS or Android app and no web version. Reading is a different matter: the flipbooks it makes are built for phones as well as desktops, with single pages on narrow screens, swipe and tap-to-turn, pinch zoom and double-tap zoom. The "Optimise for phones" option makes pages smaller so a book opens faster on mobile data. So you create on Windows, and your readers can be on anything.

Is Flippique in the Microsoft Store?

Not yet, and we won't claim a date we don't have. Download the installer from flippique.com instead. Because that installer isn't code-signed yet, Windows shows a "Windows protected your PC" message the first time you run it - see the troubleshooting answer below for what that means and how to get past it. A Store version would remove that message entirely, because Microsoft signs Store apps, and it's something we want to do.

Sharing your flipbook

How do I share a flipbook with someone?

It's one file, so you have options. Email it as an attachment if it's small enough; put it on your own website and share the link; drop it on any static host (Netlify Drop and similar are free for this) and share that link; or put it on a USB stick for a stand or a meeting. Whoever receives it just opens it in a browser — no app, no account, no plug-in, and it works offline once they have the file.

Why doesn't the flipbook animate on my iPhone?

Because of how iOS handles .html attachments. When an HTML file is opened straight from Mail or previewed in the Files app, iOS doesn't run the scripts inside it, so you see the pages but no page turns. It isn't a fault in your book. The fix is to share a link instead of the file: put the .html on your website, a Netlify Drop or any static host, and send the address. Opened in Safari or Chrome from a link, it animates properly. Android and desktop browsers open the file directly with no issue.

My file is too big to email. What can I do?

Your pages are embedded in the file, which is what makes it self-contained — a 100-page PDF usually lands around 20–40 MB, and most email services stop at roughly 20–25 MB. Two things help. Switch on "Optimise for phones" before saving: it makes the pages smaller, so the file shrinks and opens faster on mobile. If it's still too big, host the file and share the link instead of attaching it — which also gets around the iPhone attachment problem above.

Can I put clickable links, video or a contact form in the pages?

No. Pages are rendered as images, so there are no clickable links, embedded video, forms or shopping hotspots inside a Flippique book, and the text isn't selectable, searchable or indexed by Google. The page-turn sound is the only audio. Flippique also doesn't host your book or give you reader analytics. If links, lead capture or view tracking are essential to your work, a hosted platform like Issuu or Flipsnack will serve you better, and we'd rather tell you that now.

Privacy

Does Flippique upload my pages anywhere?

No, never. Everything — importing, arranging, previewing and saving — happens on your own computer. We don't receive, see or store your images, your PDFs or the flipbooks you make. The app only reads the files you choose to import and only writes a book where you tell it to save. That's the whole reason people use it for confidential catalogues, pre-release magazines, client work and student material. The only thing the app ever sends is your licence key, to check it's valid.

Do the flipbooks track who opens them?

No. An exported flipbook contains your pages and nothing else that phones home — no analytics, no trackers, no cookies, no network requests at all. Neither we nor you can see who opened a book or how many pages they read. That's a deliberate trade: it's what makes the file private and offline-proof, and it's also why we can't offer reader analytics. If you need to know who viewed a book, you'd want a hosted platform instead, or your own web server's logs.

Do I need an account?

No. There's no sign-up, no login, no password and no email capture anywhere in Flippique — you install it and use it. If you subscribe, Creem takes your details at checkout as the seller and emails you a licence key, which you paste into the app; that's still not an account with us. The website uses Google Analytics only if you accept the cookie banner, and the app never does. Full detail is in the privacy policy at flippique.com.

Troubleshooting

Windows says "Windows protected your PC". Is something wrong?

No. It isn't a virus warning, and nothing has been detected in the file.

Microsoft Defender SmartScreen judges an installer mostly on how many people have already run it. A file almost nobody has downloaded yet is "unrecognised", whatever it contains, so every new app from a small studio starts with this message. Flippique's installer also isn't code-signed yet, which means it can't build up a reputation across releases the way a signed one would — each new version starts over.

Choose More info, then Run anyway, and the install continues normally. Always download from flippique.com so you know exactly what you're running.

The message goes away on its own as more people install a given version, and it would disappear entirely with a Microsoft Store release, because Microsoft signs Store apps. We'd like to do both; neither has a date yet and we won't pretend otherwise.

The app says a licence check is needed. What now?

That means more than 30 days have passed since the last successful check — usually a long spell offline or a firewall blocking the app — so Flippique makes free books until it can confirm the key. Connect to the internet, open About → License and choose Check now. It should go back to normal in a second or two. If it doesn't, check whether a firewall or VPN is blocking flippique.com, then email hello@nebula-digital.com with what the screen says.

My key wasn't recognised when I tried to activate it.

Nearly always a typing slip: copy the key straight from your Creem purchase email rather than retyping it, and make sure no space crept in at either end. If the app says the key is already active on its maximum number of computers, free one with About → License → Deactivate on this computer on a machine you no longer use. If it says the key isn't for Flippique, you may have pasted a key from another product. Still stuck? Email hello@nebula-digital.com with your purchase email address.

My PDF didn't import the way I expected.

Every page of the PDF becomes one page of the book, in the PDF's own order, and the pages are rendered as images. So if the order looks wrong, it's usually the source PDF — re-export it or drag the pages into place in the page grid, which is quicker than fixing the file. If a page looks low-quality, check that "Optimise for phones" is off, since that deliberately makes pages smaller. If a PDF won't open at all, email it to us if you can share it, or describe how it was made.

How do I contact support?

Email hello@nebula-digital.com. We reply within 3 business days — Flippique is made by Nebula Digital, a small independent studio, so you're emailing the people who build it. It helps a lot if you include your Flippique version (About shows it; 0.2.0 at the time of writing), your Windows version, the email address you bought with if it's a licence question, and the exact wording of any message on screen. For invoices, VAT details or payment methods, Creem is the faster route: creem.io/my-orders/login.

Still stuck? Email hello@nebula-digital.com. For invoices, VAT details or payment methods, the Creem customer portal is faster.
